Class Note 2016. Hello, ’16s!
Did you know our 10-year reunion is coming up this July 24-27? I’m told hotels are filling up fast, so don’t forget to reserve! Big thank you to Cecelia Shao and Martin Anguita for stepping up as our 10-year reunion chairs.
Nobody’s sent in Class Notes in a bit, so y’all will hear about my life. Hear ye, hear ye. The memoirs shall continue until I receive Class Notes!
It’s false spring as I write this note—that moment when you tentatively poke your head out into sunshine but know temps will drop as soon as you put away those winter coats. I just had a blast in Shanghai, visiting family and eating my way through banquets of impossibly delicious steamed fish, braised salt pork soup with grandma’s homemade salt pork, tender river eels stewed in sweet and sticky soy sauce, mountains of wild spring vegetables stir-fried with a kiss of homemade rice wine lees. We welcomed the Lunar New Year with plenty of firecrackers and fireworks, by which I mean monstrous amounts of ordnance that can only be legal in the Chinese countryside. Wishing everyone a prosperous new Year of the Fire Horse!
