Class Note 1971. Our fun-filled 55th reunion on June 15-18 is right around the corner, so be sure to check out “Class News” and reunionatdartmouth71.org for information on events and activities, meals, registration (closes May 17), dorm rooms, and much more—as well as pre- and post-reunion options at Mount Moosilauke (June 14) and Lake Morey Resort in Fairlee, Vermont (June 18–19)! Based on early responses to our survey, we expect that the 55th reunion attendance will match or exceed our 50-plus-one. Last summer at his beautiful Virginia home and grounds, David Meeker hosted the first ’71 Phi Delt reunion with Steve Brown, Gene Elrod, Mike Furry, Tom Hancock, Joe Jarrett, Bob Osborne, Dan Radakovich, Pete Ruegger, John Ryzewic, Bill Saumsiegle, and Tim Risley and ’72s Steve Mahlum and David Rath. Includingsignificant others, 25 were there. One of the ’71s wrote, “Our time was magical. In this crazy world, the peace and the reciprocity of love shared—what a gift to be friends for all these years.”
You may recall reading in the March/April issue that Ray Abruzzo’s grandson Ben Campion was admitted to the class of ’28. Now Ray reports that granddaughter Annie Campion has been admitted early decision to ’30. “Pretty cool to have a third generation attending. I did not foresee this while I was drinking beer in the basement of Phoenix House. After a 28-year absence (since daughter Carolyn’s 1997 graduation), I returned to Hanover in May to visit Ben. It felt like I had returned home again. Now I have another reason to go back more often.”
Obituaries for classmates Robert Henry Lavenda (July 23, 2025) and Scott Taylor Wiley (August 1, 2025) will appear in the online DAM.
