Class Note 2017. Friendly reminder to all that reunions are only a few months away! By the time you read this, early registration for housing should be starting or about to start, so be sure to get your information submitted! We’ll be on campus at the same time as the ’15s, ’16s, and ’21s, so it’s sure to be a busy weekend.
I had a chance to catch up recently with David Polashenski, who’s been living in Alaska for the past five or so years. Since finishing his Ph.D. in geophysics in 2024, he’s been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Alaska Southeast studying glaciers. He and his partner Emily just bought a house in Fairbanks, Alaska, and are eagerly looking forward to the return of daylight. As I write this in December, sunrise there is around 11 a.m. and sunset is at 2:45 p.m.!
Meghan Chamberlain and Joe Naji got engaged last April. Meghan’s currently working at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, as an attending in emergency medicine and lives across the river in Philadelphia. When she’s not working at her hospital, she spends time on Joe’s family farm helping out with their horses. Meghan bought a horse named Captain Crunch and is training him to compete in “Mounted Games,” a fast-paced relay sport done on horseback. I’m told this involves jumping on and off the horse while it’s galloping, which seems like an activity with non-zero injury risk. I guess it’s reassuring to know she’s uniquely qualified to handle any mishaps if things go sideways.
Last but not least, I wanted to give a big shoutout to Tara Rogers and her husband, Max, who welcomed a baby boy, Leo, to their family in November. Tara and Max moved to Chatham, New Jersey, back in the fall of 2024 and are loving making memories as a family in their new home. Cheers to you both!
