When Monica Miller published Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity in 2009, she never imagined it would one day inspire the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Now a professor and chair of Africana studies at Barnard College, Miller served as guest curator for the show, which explores 300 years of Black style. The exhibition traces dandyism from 18th-century Europe through modern icons such as André Leon-Talley, showcasing fashion as a form of self-definition and resistance. “It was just completely out of the blue and flabbergasting but also fantastic,” she says of the Met’s invitation (dartmouthalumni magazine.com).
Robert and Molly (Goodwin) Hardie cut the ribbon on the new University of Virginia (UVA) Molly and Robert Hardie Football Operations Center. Robert is rector of UVA’s board of visitors and Molly is chair of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the organization that owns and operates Monticello. The couple’s philanthropy reflects a lifelong commitment to UVA and public service. “We give because we believe in it,” Molly says. “It’s not about us—it’s about the program” (news.virginia.edu).
Mark Mader, CEO and cofounder of Smartsheet, was inducted into the 2025 class of the Dartmouth Entrepreneurs Hall of Fame. With more than 30 years of technology experience, he was named Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year in Technology for the Pacific Northwest.” A dual U.S. and German citizen, Mader brings a global perspective to his leadership and serves on the boards of ZoomInfo and the University of Washington Information School (home.dartmouth.edu).
Former Dartmouth men’s tennis player Christopher Moore and his wife, Gretchen, have deepened their family’s legacy with a gift endowing the Moore Family Assistant Coach of Women’s Tennis. The endowment will sustain coaching excellence and player development for years to come. Their daughter, Michela ’27, is already making her mark, earning All-Ivy honors and the ITA New England Region Player to Watch award. “The close friendships and shared experiences on and off the courts were some of my favorite memories from Dartmouth,” Chris reflects (dartmouth sports.com).
Attorney Sharon Lincoln has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America 2026 for her expertise in nonprofit and charities law. A partner at Casner & Edwards in Boston, Lincoln is widely respected for advising tax-exempt organizations and philanthropic entities (casneredwards.com).
Geoff Watson was recently named CEO of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The organization partners with more than 340 institutions nationwide, supporting more than 14,500 faculty members in professional growth and retention. Watson’s leadership will guide NCFDD’s mission to empower scholars with transformative skills and create thriving academic environments (ncfdd.org).
Dartmouth runner J’Voughnn Blake ’26 was the runner-up in the 800-meter race at the Ivy League Outdoor Track Championship this past spring. With a finish of 1:47.72, Blake has the second-fastest time in Big Green history behind the class’s own Dennis Webster, whose record time of 1:47.67 still stands (thedartmouth.com).
