Class Note 2016. Happy holidays, ’16s!
I’m writing this in the middle of a roasty toasty August, so I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to some cool winter weather.
Maureen Barre writes in that Jack Barre and Brad Schierhorn completed a Half Ironman in June in Springfield, Massachusetts. That’s a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride, and 13.1-mile run. Congrats to both of you super athletes!
Veronica Burt writes in that she recently wrapped up two months in Washington, D.C., as an associate choreographer for the world premiere of the new musical, A Wrinkle in Time, at Arena Stage. Perks of living in the district included hanging with fellow ’16s Jalisa Clark, FrankCunningham, and JenNguyen! She has since headed across the pond to London for an M.F.A. in movement directing and teaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Veronica writes: “I can’t wait to spend time at the pub with dear friends and fellow alums Sophia Pedlow ’15, LuluRiley, and MaxHannam and baby Jude Hannam!” Have lots of fun and check out the marmalades in Fortnum & Mason!
Yours truly also has a class note to share! I spent nine days backpacking the Alta Via 1 in the Dolomites in northern Italy with Vivian Hu and Cindy Sun. This was a delightful hut-to-hut hike that featured lots of speck (a cured ham that is served thinly shaved), cabbage (the only vegetable I had many days), and scrambling across scree. Thank you, Viv and Cindy, for helping me work on a shorts tan. And shout-out to the poor hut hosts at Rifugio Nuvolau, who had to throw away a pair of wool underwear and a sports bra that I left hanging in the dormitory rafters after doing a batch of sink laundry. Favorite underwear, you will be missed!
We’re still looking for a reunion head to lead planning our 10-year reunion in July 2026. I cannot believe we are almost at 10 years now! Please reach out to dartmouth.class.of.2016@dartmouth.edu if you’re interested.
