Class Note 1973. Farewell, first quarter of the century.
Dave Wilson is a financial advisor and portfolio manager with Merrill Lynch in Greenwich, Connecticut. In addition to being an avid traveler whose favorite destination is Tanzania, Dave enjoys skiing, sporting clays, and Argentine tango. Believing it is important to give back to his community, Dave is involved with several local food banks and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the ASPCA.
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution emeritus research scholar Stephen Swift resides in New Hampshire. Stephen’s research interests include the seismic structure of oceanic crust, borehole seismology, depositional patterns and facies models of deep marine sediments, development of continental slopes, rises, and marginal seas; erosion, transport, and deposition of deep-sea sediment; environmental impact of deep-sea manganese nodule mining; and marine geology and tectonics in the Middle East. Stephen authored or coauthored more than 50 papers while working full-time for Woods Hole.
Bob Lazarus practices law in Jackson, Mississippi. He specializes in business and commercial transactions, economic development, public finance, and tax-exempt financing. He also is admitted to practice in Ohio.
With 40 years of experience in process development and design, including process alternative evaluations, technology assessment and selection, pilot-plant testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of a variety of chemical processes, other chemical production processes and various process engineering leadership roles, Chuck Higdon serves as the chief process engineer for Process Engineering Associates in Boyertown, Pennsylvania.
Head agent David Bracken reported 35.6 percent (251 members) of the class donated $529,054, the equivalent of 10 scholarships in FY 2024-25. Overall participation in the Dartmouth College Fund was only 28 percent.
Class scholarship recipient Eleanora Alloway ’26 from Southold, New York, sent a note to the class: “Thank you so much for your generous support. Because of your contribution, I am able to continue my education in a field that I love and flourish in without the concern of putting a financial burden on my mother or taking out hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. I cannot describe how much I appreciate this and how much it motivates me to succeed in my field of study.” Eleanora is majoring in English and in film and media studies.
Last year the College started a virtual book club, focusing on tomes by Dartmouth authors. Seven books have been covered thus far: Choke, On Juneteenth, The Latecomer, Remember You Are a Wiley, Fire Exit, The River, and If I Had Your Face. None yet penned by a ’73.

Christopher Culvert and Patricia Collins died in mid-June. The published obituary for Chris described him as “a man of astounding intellect softened by a boundless wit who offered kindness, generosity, and compassion to anyone fortunate enough to make his acquaintance and whose quest for sartorial perfection is legendary,” while Patty’s reflected that “she was an exceptionally kind and caring person with a great sense of humor.” For DAM obituaries see https://dartmouthalumnimagazine.com/obits.
