Charles Weingartner ’60
Charles Weingartner ’60 died on December 3, 2020. He was born November 20, 1938, the son of Adam and Barbara Weingartner. He grew up in Franklin Square, New York, and graduated from Sewanhaka High School. At Dartmouth, where Chuck was recruited for his track skills, he competed on the track team, joined Psi Upsilon, and participated in the Newman Club and Ledyard Canoe Club. He graduated with a major in chemistry and earned a master’s in the same discipline two years later. He married his high school sweetheart, Jeannine Kovari, on September 4, 1960. His career began in the plastics division of Monsanto and, during this time, he and Jeannine had daughters Diane and Gayle. He found the work challenging, traveling the world as well as managing chemical plants in the United States and Belgium. He worked as a vice president in the plastics division of Tupperware, then retired at 55 to become a man of leisure. He loved sports and quickly embraced a variety of activities that defined his and his family’s free time. He loved to ski, a passion he passed to his daughters and granddaughter Jeannine. He was also passionate about tennis and golf. When his wife discovered horseback riding, Chuck learned to ride too. After his wife’s death, Chuck took up cycling, with annual family adventures, riding from Prague to Vienna, Berlin to Dresden, and Brugge to Amsterdam. He loved his family.
