Charles Barnett Williams ’45
Charles Barnett Williams ’45 passed away at home on Shelter Island, New York, on February 27, 2009. Charlie was born in Hankow, China, in 1923. His early life included unique travel as well as great experiences in sailing, which he continued. He came to Dartmouth from Phillips Exeter and received an M.B.A. from Tuck. He wrote a book about his WW II life on a destroyer. He was also an artist and loved the theater, playing bridge and gardening. Charlie started his business career in Rocky River, Ohio, with Farrol Enamel Corp. as editor of its house magazine, moving eventually to his own company, the Charles B. Williams Co., involved in the construction industry, primarily commercial building. Charlie married Martha 63 years ago and they retired to Shelter Island in 1981. Charlie was always active in community affairs. He is survived by Martha, children Rick and Penny and five grandchildren.
