Audrey Verona Dorch ’89
Audrey Verona Dorch ’89 passed away on February 24 in Seattle with daughter D.J. and son Zach by her side. Verona graduated from Thomas Edison High School in Queens, New York. At Dartmouth Verona majored in sociology and was active in Kappa Alpha Theta, Afro-American Society, Hillel, Black Underground Theater Association, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. After Dartmouth, Verona received her JD degree with honors from Harvard Law School. As an alumna, Verona was active as an admissions ambassador and career network volunteer and with the Black Alumni of Dartmouth Association. Verona was executive vice president and chief legal officer of Providence Health, one of the largest healthcare systems in the nation; she joined Providence from Peabody Energy Corp. in St. Louis, Missouri, where she served as executive vice president, chief legal officer, head of government affairs, and corporate secretary since 2015. Verona was named to Black Enterprise Magazine’s “Most Powerful Women in Corporate America” in 2017, 2018, and 2019; in 2019 appeared on the Financial Times’ “Global General Counsel 20” list; and in 2020 was named one of the “Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Oil & Gas” by the National Diversity Council. Verona served as a member of the board of directors of Enterprise Bank & Trust, Girls Inc. in St. Louis, and the United Way of Greater St. Louis.
