1932 Olympic Flashback

Speed skater Jack Shea ’34, competing in his hometown of Lake Placid, New York, wins the second heat of the 1,500-meter race en route to becoming the first American to win two gold medals at one Olympics. “I spent half the time at the Olympics studying and half the time training,” he later said, “but it worked out very well.”
