Norris C. Knosher ’60

Norris C. Knosher ’60 of Montpelier, Vermont, passed away on June 8 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Norris was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 5, 1938, the son of Vernon and Margaret. The family moved to San Francisco and then to Sacramento, California. Graduating from Sacramento High School, he attended Dartmouth and then graduated from Harvard Law School. Norris moved to Montpelier to work for the National Life Insurance Co. After a short period of private practice in the law firm of Rice and Knosher, he returned to National Life and had recently retired from that company. He was a member of the Vermont Bar Association for approximately 50 years. Norris spent 30 years volunteering for the American Red Cross, especially the blood services program. He was known and respected by friends and colleagues as an extremely competent tax and estate planning attorney who was willing to assist people regardless of their station in life. Those who knew Norris learned early that he had unquestionable integrity, honesty and loyalty. Norris attended the monthly Upper Valley lunches of the class of 1960, which remembers him as a thoughtful, kind person who truly enjoyed reconnecting with his classmates. He is survived by his brother, Lee, nephews Philipp and Hagen and friends too numerous to name.
