John Michael McGean ’49 died on September 24, 2011. Mike came to Dartmouth from Shaker Heights (Ohio) High School. He and his late wife, Lois, won one international and two national ice dancing championships in the 1950s. He went on to found the Dartmouth figure skating club and coach it with his daughter Loren ’92. In the interim he was “Mr. Dartmouth” for his 39-year career as secretary of the College and later as alumni director. Mike leaves children Loren ’92, Betsy and Geoffrey ’84.
