Jay Nathan Weinberg ’40, vice president of the class of 1940, died June 18, 2009, in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Jay came to Dartmouth from Phillips Exeter Academy and was a 1941 graduate of Tuck School. He was a member of Pi Lambda Phi, Green Key, Dartmouth Outing Club, The Players, Cabin & Trail (secretary), Winter Carnival Council and freshman tennis. He served on the reunion committee from 2000 to 2009. During WW II Jay was an Air Force aviation cadet still in pilot training when the war ended. A cancer survivor, he was on the review board of Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and cofounder of the Corporate Angel Network (CAN), which uses empty seats on corporate aircraft to fly cancer patients to treatment centers. CAN has flown more than 30,000 flights to date. Jay is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marian, and children James, Ann and Joan.
