Christopher Stiriz Bustard ’10

Christopher Stiriz Bustard ’10 passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2022, after being hit by a car during a neighborhood run in Sarasota, Florida. Chris was born in Mount Kisco, New York, on July 12, 1988, and grew up in Sarasota. He attended Pine View School from second through 12th grades, making lifelong friends there. During high school he ran cross country for Sarasota High School and rowed for Sarasota Crew, competing in a 2006 state championship boat. At Dartmouth, his father’s alma mater, he earned A.B. and B.E. degrees in engineering and completed his M.E.M. in 2014 before beginning a career in digital healthcare. Chris loved Dartmouth, especially spending time in the White Mountains with the Dartmouth Outing Club Woodsmen’s Team and working on the trail crew maintaining portions of the Appalachian Trail during the summer. He was a member of the crew team and an active brother in Alpha Chi Alpha. He minored in music and played bassoon in the Dartmouth Wind Ensemble. Chris met his future wife, Kate Lyon ’05, in Hanover in 2013. They were engaged at the top of Mount Moosilauke in New Hampshire’s White Mountains in 2016 and married in Hanover in 2017. They moved back to the Upper Valley, their happy place, shortly after the birth of son Theodore “Teddy” in April 2021. Kate and Teddy survive him, along with his parents, David ’68 and Elaine.
