Richard A. Buck ’56
Richard A. Buck ’56 died peacefully on August 23, 2010, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Patsy, at his side. Dick grew up in Harrisburg, and after graduating from Dartmouth went on to earn a graduate degree in education at Harvard. He was hired by the Lexington, Massachusetts, school system and early on demonstrated how his love for teaching benefited his students. He was one of three chosen to attend institutes under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation. He did not leave the classroom until his retirement, focusing on advanced placement work with juniors and seniors. After retiring from Lexington High School and moving to Harrisburg he taught math at Harrisburg Area Communion College for 17 years, crafting the math learning center, where struggling students could find extra help with their studies. He is survived by Patsy, siblings Doris and James and several nieces and nephews.
