William J. Harrington ’51

William J. Harrington ’51, for 40 years a commercial lobsterman, died on March 10 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He is survived by six children and 11 grandchildren. His wife, Rosemarie, and son Charles predeceased him. Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as part of an air-sea rescue team from 1945 to 1947. At Dartmouth he was an economics major and a member of Beta Theta Pi. In addition to lobstering, Bill was a self-employed independent insurance agent and was active in real estate development and construction. He was a director of the Plymouth Five Cents Savings Bank from 1982 to 1991. He and Rosemarie shared a love of gardening at their longtime home in Manomet, Massachusetts, and traveled together to much of the world. For many years they maintained a winter home in Santurce, Puerto Rico.
