Thomas Vreeland Jardine ’41 died at home in Little Silver, New Jersey, on Sept.12, 2009. At Dartmouth Tom was a member of Chi Gamma Epsilon/Kappa Sigma. He served in WW II with the 3rd fleet in the Pacific, seeing action in Iwo Jima and Okinawa and in the air strikes on Tokyo. After graduation from Michigan Law School he became a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and practiced with law firms in Newark and then Springfield. He and his wife, Rita, resided in Rumson, New Jersey, beginning in 1951 and in Little Silver since 2000. Tom was an active participant in Rumson civic affairs, a founding member and president of the Rumson Community Appeal and president of the Rumson Free Library. He was also instrumental in creating the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional School District. Tom was a member of the New Jersey Aero Club since 1979 and a devotee of amateur radio. He is survived by Rita, two sons, two daughters and seven grandchildren.
