Thomas Kromer Myers ’54

Thomas Kromer Myers ’54 passed away January 2 in Ridgefield, Connecticut. At Dartmouth he was a brother in Beta Theta Pi and a member of ROTC and Sphinx. He went on to Harvard. Tom fulfilled his military service, commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa. Tom returned to Harvard Business School in 1957 to complete his M.B.A. Early in 1960 his family moved to England and Tom became U.K. product manager for Colgate Palmolive. The family moved in 1962 to Sweden to be closer to wife Birgit’s family. In 1964 Tom joined General Foods as product manager. In 1964 the family moved to New Canaan, Connecticut, where Tom and Birgit would reside for the next 56 years. He entered the advertising business and served on the American Association of Advertising Agencies board. He then became executive vice president of the American Express credit card division in 1979. In 1984 he became a marketing consultant for a number of corporations. Tom never officially retired and was still working on marketing plans for an assisted living facility prior to his death. He is survived by Birgit, sons Thomas Jr., James, and John, and five grandchildren.
