Samuel Entriken Hibben ’51

Samuel Entriken Hibben ’51 died on September 13, 2010, in Anaheim, California, of heart and pulmonary complications. Born in Chicago, he prepared for Dartmouth at the Harvard School for Boys. He majored in English and was a member of the Glee Club and WDBS. He married Margene Francis in February 1951 and then spent the next two years in the U.S. Army, serving as a Special Services noncommissioned officer with the 109th Infantry Regiment in Europe. He then entered the steel service industry in Chicago with C.A. Roberts Co. as its vice president of marketing until 1989, when he moved to Orange County, California, and served in a similar capacity with the same firm until 1991, when he retired. In retirement he enjoyed music, fine art and gourmet cooking. He was predeceased by Margene and is survived by sons Eugene, Kenneth and Dan, daughter Catherine and six grandchildren.
