Robert W. Ng ’79

Robert W. Ng ’79 died peacefully May 2 after a short illness. He resided in Boston and was a graduate of Boston Latin School. Bob majored in economics during his time at Dartmouth and was a member of Sigma Nu, the Society of Business & Finance, the International Students Association, and the Daniel Webster Legal Society. He went on to earn an M.B.A. from Northeastern University before embarking on a successful career on the New York Commodities Exchange. Henry Hunnefeld ’79, a Boston Latin classmate, writes: “Bobby was in my seventh-grade class and we studied together for the next 10 years. He was a very nice guy with a great wit. I remember our homeroom teacher couldn’t get over the fact that he didn’t have a vowel in his name. He never let little things bother him.” Pat Quinn ’79 adds: “I had the good fortune to know Bob since Boston Latin. Bob was independent and confident, yet easygoing; he got along with everyone. After college I did not see him again until a lunch in N.Y.C. in 2015. We went to Chinatown and Bob ordered a special menu. I am so glad we reconnected; it makes me realize that we should not pass up any chance to visit each other. Even those brief afternoons count so much.” Bob is survived by his father, Stanley, siblings James and Jenny, and a large, loving extended family. The family prepared a wonderful tribute video at https://ddgfqeo643onm.cloudfront.net/cmi/8/2/6/1/8261628/m_140627.mp4.
