Robert P. Manis ’73

Robert P. Manis ’73 died on July 15, 2022, at the Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, Florida. Robert came to Dartmouth from Akron, Ohio, where he attended Harvey C. Firestone High School. He graduated from Community High School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the College Robert majored in chemistry. In 1976 Robert earned a master’s in international finance from the Arizona State University Thunderbird School of Global Management. Conversant in seven languages, he worked domestically and internationally for more than 30 years in corporate finance for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in various positions of increasing responsibility. After retiring from Goodyear in 2009, Robert and his wife, Stacie, acquired and operated the New York Butcher Shoppe in Ponte Vedra, Florida. He was an avid fisherman who also built fishing rods and enjoyed tying flies in his spare time. A quiet and thoughtful person, Robert was also quick with a joke and a helping hand for those in need. He is survived by Stacie, daughters Elizabeth and Kara, two brothers, and three grandsons. Gifts may be made in Robert’s memory to the Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Jacksonville or the American Cancer Society.
