Robert J. Crossley ’51

Robert J. Crossley ’51 of Pinedale, Wyoming, died on March 4. His wife, Joan, predeceased him by two weeks. Pinedale (population 1,100) suited Bob and Joan—they fell in love with the West during a visit to Yellowstone Park and never left. They especially enjoyed the peace and solitude, beautiful surrounding countryside, and abundant animal life. A photo in his 50th reunion yearbook shows Bob nose-to-nose with a moose. Bob spent 34 years with International Harvester Co. His position at retirement was director of labor relations. At Dartmouth Bob was a member of Zeta Psi. He was active as manager of the freshman track team and on the staff of the Jack-O-Lantern magazine. He went on after graduation to earn an M.B.A. from Loyola University in Chicago. Among the activities that gave him pleasure were lapidary arts, stamp and coin collecting, and cooking. He was admired for his ability to complete The New York Times crossword puzzle in ink.
