Robert D. “Dan” Vock ’54

Robert D. “Dan” Vock ’54 passed away unexpectedly on May 22 in Rye Brook, New York. Dan was born in Paris and survived World War II as a “hidden child” in central France. He studied at the Lycee Charlemagne in Paris. Dan came to Dartmouth from the Lycée and, as might be expected, was a member of the French Club and Cosmopolitan Club, which he served as president. He majored in government. Following Dartmouth Dan went on to Harvard Law School, served as an officer in the U.S. Army, and embarked on a successful international legal career. His insatiable curiosity and zest for learning were his special and greatest gifts to friends and family alike; his life and that of his family were richer and full of adventure because of that. He is survived by Susan, his wife of 64 years, sons Alex and Jeffrey, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, and cousin Pauline Brown ’88.
