Robert Cornelius Ringstad ’52

Robert Cornelius Ringstad ’52, a resident of Chelmsford Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2020. Bob was born on April 5, 1930, in Pittsburgh and brought up and educated in Glen Rock and Ridgewood, New Jersey, graduating from Ridgewood High School. He attended Dartmouth for his undergraduate and graduate degrees (M.B.A.) and was employed as a stockbroker until his retirement. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He was a longtime member of the U.S. Navy, attending the Naval War College and earning the rank of captain during his service. He then served with the naval reserves for many years. Bob met Diane in Laguna Beach, California, and they were married in 1956, shortly thereafter moving east and eventually settling in Glen Rock in 1967. They remained married for 61 years, until Diane’s death in 2017. In retirement Bob and Diane enjoyed playing bridge and Bob was an avid sailor and longtime sailboat owner, as he came from a long line of boat builders in the Ringstad family from Ringstad, Norway. He was always an active Dartmouth alum, contributing regularly to his alma mater, attending many class reunions, and involved in the organization of events, especially in New York City. He attended many Dartmouth football games through the years with friends and family. Bob is survived by sons Erik and Niel and two grandchildren.
