Richard Major III ’54
Richard Major III ’54 passed away on October 30, 2018, in Houston, Texas. Dick came to Dartmouth from Hartsdale, New York, where he attended White Plains High School. At Dartmouth he was a botany major, brother of Alpha Theta, and varsity member of the baseball team. After graduation he served as a lieutenant and navigator in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1959. In the summer of 1954 he played baseball for a Philadelphia Phillies farm team. After discharge from the Air Force, Dick settled in the Houston area and advanced his career at the forefront of computer technology, working for several major companies, including Honeywell, Xerox, and Nixdorf. His wife, Ann, and daughters Karen, Sharon, and Linda survive Dick.
