Richard Dax Tejera ’07

Richard Dax Tejera ’07 of Chevy Chase, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly in New York City on December 23, 2022. Although Dax’s life was cut short, he lived the time he was given to the fullest. Dax treasured his family and poured his boundless energy into the roles he deemed most sacred: loving husband, doting father, devoted brother, faithful son, loyal friend, scholar, and journalist. After getting his start in journalism at Dartmouth, Dax’s career soared through stints with NBC News; the creation of Hate Rising, a documentary on the rise of white supremacy and the alt-right; and the production of myriad news programs with Fusion and ABC News. At 35, Dax began his run as executive producer of the ABC News Sunday show This Week, leading it to No. 1 among adults ages 25 to 54 for the first time in six years. Dax balanced his robust professional life with a deep commitment to his family. He is survived by his wife, Veronica, and daughters Sofia (2) and Ella Rose (1). At Dartmouth Dax was a brother in Sigma Alpha Epsilon and publisher of The Dartmouth. He had attended the history foreign study program in London and was a leader in La Alianza Latina. He was known widely for his charisma, affability, and amazing fashion sense. He continued to serve the College as a member of The Dartmouth board of proprietors since 2018.
