Preston L. Davis ’57

Preston L. Davis ’57 passed away September 21, 2022. Lin came to Dartmouth from Milton (Pennsylvania) High School. He majored in international relations, graduating magna cum laude. He belonged to Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Pre-law Club, and the Lutheran Club. He earned his 1960 J.D. from University of Pennsylvania, where he was editor of the law review. For one year he clerked on U.S. Third Circuit of Appeals, then returned to Milton to work with his father in a firm founded in 1895. In 1970 the firm became Davis, Davis, & Karr. He was president of the Northumberland County Bar Association. Lin served as a solicitor for Northumberland County, on the redevelopment authority, as register of wills and recorder of deeds, on the sewer authority and zoning boards. He was a director of the First National Bank of Milton, Commonwealth Bank, and Commonwealth Bancshares and director of SUN Home Health Services. He was president of the Susquehanna Council of the Boy Scouts, vice president of the Hemlock Council, Girl Scouts, chairman of Tressler Lutheran Services, master of the Masonic Lodge, and on the boards of Rotary and United Way. Lin was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Penn State Nittany Lion Club and the wrestling club. He regularly attended football games, enjoying tailgating with friends and family. Annually he attended the NCAA wrestling championship event. He was predeceased by Meg, his wife of 59 years, and is survived by four children and nine grandchildren.
