Peter B. Lena ’79

Peter B. Lena ’79 died after a brief illness on June 27, 2015. Born on April 12, 1957, Peter grew up in Plainfield, Connecticut, and attended St. Bernard High School. At Dartmouth Pete joined Bones Gate, serving as rush chair, and majored in English. Peter lived in Danielson, Connecticut, enjoyed hunting and fishing and worked in management and marketing for McDonald’s, Foxwoods and Frito-Lay. Peter leaves behind three daughters, two sons-in-law, four grandchildren (two grandchildren died previously) and five siblings. One daughter wrote: “Dad felt a need to pass on to us every shred of wisdom he had gathered over the years: how not to drop your backcast on the stream in late afternoon, how to always tread softly while hunting at the farm and how to catch the light before it slipped away when taking photographs. He kept our dance cards full with tennis, boat rides, crabbing, constitutionals after supper and popcorn movie nights, with his Nikon camera always ready to capture each of these precious memories. Peter put family first and truly appreciated all life had to offer.” Peter’s ’79 Bones Gate brothers wrote: “Peter ‘Pedro’ Lena was a prince among men, kind and compassionate, beloved by all those who had the good fortune to enter his orbit. He drew people in with his easygoing manner and unselfconscious charm, as well as his quick, dry wit. We’ll always remember Pedro’s impish smile, which lit up a room. He will be greatly missed.”
