Wayne Osmond ’70

Issue

March-April 2022

Wayne Osmond ’70 died unexpectedly on October 27, 2021. He is survived by his longtime partner, Kathy, daughter Kristine, and brother Gary. After earning a master’s in education, he taught health education at high schools in Worcester and Waltham, Massachusetts, before switching gears to run his own residential landscaping business. He loved flying and was a fixed-wing pilot for many years. Later he became a helicopter pilot and owner of Boston Helicopter of Norwood, Massachusetts. Wayne had a passion for foreign travel and ’round the girdled earth he roamed, especially in Europe, South America, and most recently Australia and New Zealand. Classmate Star Johnson captures Wayne’s essence: “He was a hard-ass, straight-shooter, pragmatic softie with a great heart.” Classmate Randy Pozdena echoes those feelings, calling Wayne “a tough ornery guy, continuing to play hockey into his 60s. He was generous to family and friends and a real business entrepreneur, with investments in Australia and Bonaire.”
