Stuart M. Ensinger Jr. ’57 died on July 15 (the day after his 91st birthday) after a short bout with ALS and aspirated pneumonia. He came to Dartmouth from Madison (New Jersey) High School, belonged to Sigma Phi Epsilon, and went on to earn a degree from Tuck School. Stuart was employed by Harris Upham & Co., a major New York Stock Exchange firm, where he was vice president, director of computer research services. After the merger with Smith, Barney, Stuart worked for the company and others as a consultant. He was an elder in Central Presbyterian Church in Summit and New Providence Presbyterian Church, both in New Jersey. He also served as a deacon and on church nominating committees. He enjoyed participating in the New Providence Presbyterian Church youth program, which he did for 18 years. Stuart and his wife, Marge, continued their love for kids by volunteering as third-grade mathematic aides at Calvary Christian Academy in Philadelphia for nine years, then another nine years at St. Andrew in Newtown, Pennsylvania, where the administration asked him to teach a third-grade enrichment math class. His greatest joy was reading God’s word and participating in numerous group Bible studies. For the past seven years he studied the parable of the wheat and the tares found in Matthew 13:24-30. Stuart is survived by Marge, daughter Dorothy, son William, and 11 grandchildren.
