O’Neil L. Sween Jr. ’57 of Vienna, Virginia, passed away on February 14. Neil came to Dartmouth from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. He majored in economics, competed on the swim team (backstroke) all four years, and belonged to Kappa Sigma, the DOC, and Ledyard Canoe Club. After graduation he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany for four years. He earned a master’s in German at Middlebury College and a master’s in international relations at American University in Washington, D.C., and then lived and worked in the D.C. area. He enjoyed swimming competitively, traveling, spending time with family, reading, and making people laugh. He is survived his wife, Anne; sons Kevin and David; daughter Karen; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
