Mahdi A. El-Baghdadi ’58 , Ph.D., passed away on October 28, 2025. Mahdi came to Dartmouth from Kadhimain, Iraq. He majored in international relations and was active with the Cosmopolitan Club and Arab Students Organization. After graduation he worked as a career diplomat with the Iraqi Foreign Service and then with the ministry of trade. In the early 1980s he earned a Ph.D. at University of Pittsburgh and then had a career as a professor at Grambling State University in Louisiana. He retired in Libertyville, Illinois. Mahdi’s wife, Nada, and two children survive.
