Kevin Trainor ’66 passed away unexpectedly on May 29 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Born in Washington, D.C., Kevin graduated from Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia. He earned a Navy ROTC scholarship to attend Dartmouth, where he majored in American history, played four years of rugby, and was a member of Chi Phi. Kevin flew more than 200 combat missions in Vietnam as a reconnaissance systems officer and an electronic warfare officer, earning multiple air medals for heroism or meritorious achievement. After discharge in 1970 Kevin moved to Idaho, where he met and married Linda Wirth in August 1972. He graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1975 and began a 40-year career as an attorney in Twin Falls, mostly as a partner at Stephan, Kvanvig, Stone & Trainor. He retired in 2018. Kevin enthusiastically embraced the outdoors in Idaho, backpacking, skiing, hunting, and running rivers. Even into his 80s, Kevin enjoyed flying his Scout and riding motorcycles. Kevin was a member of the Twin Falls Rotary Club, a supporter of the College of Southern Idaho Fitness Trail, and international youth exchange organizer. In recent years he worked with Veterans for Idaho Voters, advocating for more democratic election processes in Idaho. He is survived by Linda; daughters Meghan and Whitney; and grandchildren Mara, Lucie, Grant, and Flora.
