John Wendell Titus ’54 died July 1, survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly. At Melrose (Massachusetts) High School, John led his hockey team to the 1950 state and New England championships. Phi Gamma Delta and Dragon welcomed John at Dartmouth, where he was in the Air Force ROTC and passionate about hockey. John scored 61 hockey goals in three seasons, 37 in his senior year, and skated for the United States in the 1955 International Ice Hockey Federation championships in Germany. John later rose to rank of Air Force lieutenant colonel while piloting F-100s, B-52s, and C-130s, then captained planes for American Airlines from 1965 to 1992. He later restored homes in two states as well as a 1908 Laker Launch boat. John is also survived by children Christopher, Jody, Sandra, and Scott; former wife Joyce; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and niece Lisa Tromovitch ’83.
