Charles E. Packard ’51, a high school history and drivers education teacher in Florida for more than 40 years, died in Fort Lauderdale on March 19 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Marion, four children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A fifth grandchild predeceased him. At Dartmouth Chuck was a member of Sigma Chi and served as manager of the tennis and squash teams. He received a master’s in education from the University of Miami in 1955. Chuck and Marion shared a love of the arts and of the sea. They took 35 cruises during the years to all parts of the world and enjoyed sailing their own boat. He was a member of the Fort Lauderdale (Florida) Yacht Club. Al Loehr ’51, a longtime friend and Fort Lauderdale neighbor, represented the class at Chuck’s funeral service.
