Charles Aaron Johnson ’52 , M.D., died on March 6, 2025, in Sioux City, Iowa. He was born July 13, 1930, in Sioux City, where he graduated from Central High School. Chuck attended Dartmouth for three years and then went to the University of Iowa for medical school. There, he met Marian Jean Beers of Waterloo, Iowa, on a blind date. They were married June 18, 1955, in Waterloo. After obtaining his M.D., Chuck fulfilled his military requirement at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, where he spent two years as the post surgeon. Upon discharge from the Army in 1962, Chuck returned to Sioux City and joined the medical practice with his father. During the next three decades, Chuck cared for thousands of patients and served on many boards. In 1995 Chuck retired from medicine and embarked upon a long and satisfying next chapter as a board member of the Loess Hills Alliance. Marian died in 2001 and six years later, he found love again with Donna, whom he knew through church and environmental activities. They traveled internationally and for family visits. Chuck is survived by Donna and children Julie, Eric, Janet, Adam, and Aaron and their families, including eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
