Blair C. Wood ’63 passed away on December 28, 2025, in Missoula, Montana. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and named after his father, Blair C. Wood, class of 1930, a longtime lawyer and judge in Waterloo. Blair attended Cedar Falls High School, where he was class vice president and participated in football and track. At Dartmouth he majored in English, was a brother of Phi Kappa Psi, and active in the outdoors, following in his father’s footsteps, participating in the Dartmouth Outing Club and Ledyard Canoe Club. His later years in Colorado, Utah, and Montana emphasized his attachment to nature. He was active in ROTC and after graduation, Blair served in the U.S. Army (artillery) near the demilitarized zone in Korea (1964-65) and at Fort Lewis, Washington (1965-66), exiting as a first lieutenant. He then obtained a J.D. at the University of Colorado in 1969, largely paid for by the GI Bill, and clerked from 1969 to 1970. From 1970 to 2000 Blair was in private practice in Lebanon, New Hampshire, largely for his firm, Stebbins Bradley Wood & Harvey. He also served as a trustee of the Ford Sayre ski council. He met his future wife, Peggy, at the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge in 1963 and they married in 1965. They moved to Dillon, Colorado, when Peggy retired as a Lebanon librarian in 2005 and continued skiing, biking, canoeing, and other outdoor interests there and in their other home in Moab, Utah. Peggy predeceased Blair by one day. He is survived by two daughters, one grandson, and brothers Michael ’60, George ’67, and John ’73.
