Andrew Nachson ’89 passed away at home in Reston, Virginia, on August 3, 2025, after living with colorectal cancer for six years. He grew up on Staten Island, N.Y.C., and came to Dartmouth from Stuyvesant High School. A philosophy major modified with environmental studies, Andrew studied abroad in Kenya as part of the environmental studies foreign study program and lived in Foley House. He loved music, playing clarinet at Dartmouth and for a summer at Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony’s summer home in the Berkshires. He and his wife, high school classmate Jenny Holah, lived all over before settling in 2000 in Reston, where they raised their sons. Jenny describes Andrew as a media futurist who devised creative solutions to complicated media problems. During his career, he was a reporter and editor for the Associated Press and the Lawrence (Kansas) Journal-World and director of the American Press Institute Media Center, the digital futures research and strategy group. He later served as chief communications officer for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition in Washington, D.C. His proudest professional accomplishment was founding WeMedia, a global innovation agency bringing together visionaries and storytellers at the intersection of media, society, and technology. Andrew was also an avid photographer who loved hiking and could often be found listening to music with the family rescue hound, Mud. He shared a poignant goodbye on his website last June. Andrew is survived by Jenny, sons Elijah and Jeremy, and sister Beth.
