Amanda Posner , M.D., ’04 passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by friends and family. Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at 33, Amanda defied her illness by living fully for more than a decade. Amanda grew up in Scarsdale, New York. At Dartmouth she majored in religion and theater and was a member of Tri Delta. Amanda earned her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2012 and completed her pediatrics residency at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Benioff Children’s Hospital in 2015. Throughout her professional life Amanda touched countless young lives with her skill, compassion, and warmth and left a mark on those she met outside her medical practice as well. She was a talented performer, acting and singing in productions at Dartmouth and with the Bard Hall Players at Columbia after appearing in off-Broadway productions as a teenager and in the films Welcome to the Dollhouse and The Door in the Floor. Amanda also joined the board of directors for the Bay Area Young Survivors in California and the Norfield Children’s Center in Connecticut. In 2016 Amanda married Ben Neumann, and they raised son Andrew. She is survived by Ben, Andrew, parents Amy and Lawrence, brother Russell, and sister-in-law Melissa. Her family is establishing an endowed professorship in Amanda’s name in the division of general pediatrics at UCSF.
