Alden Leighton Fiertz ’52

Alden Leighton Fiertz ’52 passed away at home in Brattleboro, Vermont, on August 20, 2025. He was born on August 24, 1930, in New York City and graduated from Manhasset (New York) High School in 1948. He earned his degree in philosophy, was a member of Chi Phi, and was named an All-American lacrosse player in 1951. Alden then served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1956, serving as a captain and flight leader during the Korean conflict. After his military service, Alden became a pilot for Pan American World Airways before concluding his academic journey at Columbia University Graduate School of Business, graduating with an M.B.A. in 1961. He then began a career in management consulting and trans-Atlantic banking, in New York City; Dusseldorf, Germany; Geneva, Switzerland; London; and Luxembourg. After retiring, he and his wife, Beverly, settled in Woodstock, Vermont. Alden was an active alumnus, serving as class president, reunion chair, and alumni councilor. He was predeceased by wives Beverly and Annette and brother Robert ’51. He is survived by Mary; sons Carey ’79, Randy, and Stuart ’84; and seven grandchildren, including Margaret ’15 and Meredith ’18.
