David Lloyd Larson ’52

David Lloyd Larson ’52 passed away on July 26 in Dover, New Hampshire. He was born in New York City February 22, 1930, and graduated from Garden City (New York) High School. At Dartmouth he was a history major and a member of Phi Delta Theta and the crew team. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as an intelligence officer. He then entered the Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and was awarded a Ph.D. in political science in 1963. He remained at Tufts as an assistant professor of government and was a visiting professor at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, before moving, in 1965, to Durham, New Hampshire, to serve as an assistant professor of political science at the University of New Hampshire. As a full professor he served six years as chairman of the political science department. He retired from UNH in 1996. He was president of New England International Studies Association until 1991, president of Northeastern Political Science Association until 1992 and executive director of the New Hampshire Council on World Affairs from 1966 until he retired in 2001. David was an avid fisherman and fished all the waters of New England. He is predeceased by his daughter, Janet. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois, sons Bruce and Douglas, daughter Lisa, two grandsons and their families.
