John Byrd Chafee ’55

John Byrd Chafee ’55 died June 27 at his home in Denver. John came to Dartmouth from South High School in Denver and graduated with a major in English. He was elected president of Sigma Nu and served as chairman of the interfraternity judicial committee and vice president of the Interfraternity Council. He also played freshman golf and was a member of Casque & Gauntlet. After graduation John served two years in the Marine Corps before starting his career in financial services. He was a founding partner of Tempest, Isenhart, Chafee & Associates. John played an active role in alumni activities as a Dartmouth College Fund volunteer and class agent (2006-10). Donations at his services were directed to the Dartmouth fund, class of 1955. Surviving John are his wife, Ann, and children Ellen ’82, John Jr. ’84 and Carolyn.
