Robert Gilmore Hadley ’55

Robert Gilmore Hadley ’55 died July 15, 2014. Bob entered Dartmouth from Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio. He majored in economics and joined Phi Delta Theta, becoming president in his senior year. Following graduation and Army service he spent his professional career as an insurance executive. He eventually headed his own agency and was active in local organizations and nationwide insurance groups. Bob was especially active in the Columbus Tennis Association and won several citywide championships. A longtime member of the Upper Arlington zoning board and a supporter of the Columbus Speech and Hearing Center, Bob was also affiliated with the Ohio School for the Deaf through his daughter, Ruth. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Nancy, and is survived by daughters Elisabeth, Ruth and Sarah and several grandchildren. Dartmouth relatives include brothers Ben ’52 and William ’60 and nephew B. Scott ’80.
