Russell E. Brooks ’60

Russell E. Brooks ’60 died unexpectedly on June 8. He graduated from Dartmouth and Columbia Law School, class of 1963. That year he married Pat Rodenrys, and then taught at Columbia Law School for two years. Next he joined the law firm of Milbank, Tweed Hadley & McCloy in New York, a large international law firm where he practiced litigation for 36 years. He was a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the epitome of the gentleman lawyer, an enthusiastic sailor, effective litigator, student of the American Civil War and tennis player. When he retired in 2001 he moved to Lloyds Neck at Huntington Bay, New York, where he had a grand time boating and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter Sarah ’92 and her husband, Erik; son Samuel and his wife, Rebeccah; and grandchildren Max, Ben, Annabelle and William.
