Everyone knows the class of 1980 reunion in Hanover begins June 19. Copresidents Joe Mannes and Cathy McGrath (one a man and one a woman and only the two shall there be) have signed beautiful executive orders commanding your presence. The “Dartmouth Office of General Excitement” (DOGE) has cut the wasteful fraud and abuse of anxiety and regret and guarantees billions of dollars in good times. Oh, the places you’ll go if you do not attend.

John Foote ’78, older brother of deceased classmate Jim Foote, expressed gratitude for remembering Jim. Jim has a grandnephew, Finn. Finn and Jim, of course, never met. Nevertheless, because Finn’s middle name is James, Finn is curious about his grandfather’s brother. If you have any recollections about Jim, please share them with Kal Alston or me and we will pass them on. John cautions that stories about the basement of Kappa Sig are best saved for later, since Finn is only 6 years old.

For good cause shown, Rick Bagley may not make the reunion, but he recalls earlier reunions and the warm reception he received from classmates. Seeing himself reflected in their eyes, Rick remembers, “I would not have thought I left any imprint, much less be treated to such affection. It was very moving, and I have never forgotten the feeling I had.”

If your cockles are not warmed by now, may Elon Musk take a chainsaw to the hard rock bottom of your heart.

Joel Chansky, in a timely message, reports that he moved from Boston to Tucson, Arizona, about 10 years ago. Joel reports that many classmates have visited since his relocation, most recently Curt Palmer, Barry Ryan, and Chris Sawch, for golf and Sonoran hot dogs.

After spending the ’80s traveling the world working for an oil company, the ’90s running his own law firm in Los Angeles, the ’00s running a hospital, and the ’10s practicing law again, Rob Fuller retired. He spends hours each day deleting a deluge of emails and texts from various Democratic fundraising enterprises. Moderate all the way around in politics, Rob donated a couple of bucks to a Georgia congressional candidate two years back. For that good deed, Rob is now forced to consider applying for the witness protection program to avoid a total seizure of his home wi-fi by an inundation of Democratic supplicants.

If you have memories of Joe Devlin, Andy Glassberg, Brooks Rainie, Charlie Clement, Chris Patti, Gordo Gordon, Dave Lightle, Dennis Biggie, Don O’Brien, Ed Piderit, Harold Washburn, Gregory Henderson, Harry Shulman, Skip Bardfield, Joan von Herrmann, Judy Reardon, Laura Prescott, Marc Segalman, Mark Wolozin, Mike Buchanan, Mike Curley, Mike Morton, Peter Storfer, Bob Wood, Steve Storfer, Rob Dinsmoor, Sam Haviland, Steven Johnson, or Will Hale, please email your thoughts to me as soon as possible. For each one of us, I ask for your help to remember each one of them.

The gleaming, dreaming walls of Dartmouth, miraculously builded in our hearts—so it goes.
