Allan Max Greenberg ’60

Allan Max Greenberg ’60, M.D., passed away unexpectedly August 28, 2010, in Cody, Wyoming, while on a tour of Western national parks with his wife of 47 years, Hazel. Allan said he was “a proud Brooklyn boy—always have been, always will be.” His career after Dartmouth started with medical training at SUNY, Duke and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He spent most of his career practicing ophthalmology in Miami, Florida, where he was a board member of the North Dade Medical Foundation and served as chairman of the board of the North Shore Medical Center. Allan would want to be remembered most for his love of family: Hazel; sons Jeffrey, Bruce ’90 and David; three daughters-in-law; and five grandchildren. They are pictured in Musings Unlimited, our 50th reunion book. He would want you to read his life pursuits, career history and life’s reflection on page 108. You can read of his love for Dartmouth. His life reads like the lyrics, “Around the girdled earth they roam, Her spell on them remains.” Allan and Hazel lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and traveled to every continent of the world except Antarctica. Fourteen of his Tau Epsilon Phi brothers celebrated a reunion in June and Allan invited them for a cruise in the summer of 2011. He will not be with them in person but will be in spirit. We will miss him.
