Gregor Ernest Johnson ’60

Gregor Ernest Johnson ’60 died on December 7, 2009, in Falls Church, Virginia, after declining health following a quadruple bypass. He came to campus from Harlowton (Montana) High School. At Dartmouth he majored in history and was the managing editor of the Aegis. He was also a member of the U.S. Army ROTC and served in active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the armor branch of the Army as a tank commander. He retired from the Army Reserve as a lieutenant colonel. Returning from active duty, Greg attended UCLA and graduated from the University of Southern California in 1967 with a master’s in history, specializing in Latin-American affairs. Greg joined the federal government upon graduation and spent his entire career in the intelligence community, retiring in the late 1990s, but continuing to serve his country in the intelligence community. He was also a certified public accountant. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Tom. He never married and had no children. He is survived by his sister-in-law Judy, two nephews and one niece.
