Wesley Price Adams Jr. ’57

Wesley Price Adams Jr. ’57 died on May 3 after a battle with lung cancer. He came to Dartmouth from Radnor, Pennsylvania. While in Hanover Wes majored in economics, was a member and social chairman of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and participated in baseball, Glee Club, Marching Band, Dartmouth Christian Union and Pre-law Club. Wes earned his law degree from the University of Virginia College of Law. He practiced law in Louisville, Kentucky, and was a member of the Kentucky Bar Association for 50 years. He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Federal District Court in Kentucky. Wes was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union, Cape May Tennis Club, Cape May Cottagers and his temple in Louisville. He served as a member of the Kentucky Bar Association Lawyers Assistance Program and was a supporter of the Healing Place. After almost retiring Wes enjoyed traveling. His favorite trips were to East Africa, where he hiked more than seven hours to spend time with mountain gorillas in the Congo and to Borneo to visit with the orangutans. His last trip was a cruise around Cape Horn. He was an avid tennis player, a journeyman gardener, expert beach bum in Cape May, loyal Phillies fan and friend of Bill W. Wes is survived by his wife of 37 years, Amelia “Mikki”; brother Anthony; children Denise, Catherine, Wesley, Jenny and Jennifer; 13 grandchildren; and three dogs and a cat.
