Edward Morgan Christie Jr. of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on June 30. Edward was born in Cranford, New Jersey, on February 1, 1930, and lived most of his formative life in Cranford. He attended Cranford High School and then Dartmouth, earning a degree in English. He was a member of Chi Phi. After graduation he attended U.S. Navy officer candidate school and served as an air intelligence officer for the VA-195 squadron on the USS Oriskany in the Pacific theater of the Korean conflict. He and his high school sweetheart, Susan Clement, were married on June 25, 1954, and relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where Ed completed his commitment to the Navy. Ed then joined Signode Industrial as a field engineer, specializing in shipping materials and logistics for the logging industry. While employed at Signode, Ed and Susan relocated to the Pacific Northwest, where they had four children. In 1970 the family moved to the Chicago area, where Ed continued his work with Signode in its corporate offices. In the 1980s Ed and Susan moved to the Phoenix area, where Ed eventually finished his career as an investment advisor to Arizona state employees. Ed is survived by Susan; children Catherine, Elizabeth, Patricia, and Edward III; and four grandchildren.
