Robert F. Asbury ’70

Robert F. Asbury ’70 passed away from cancer on June 13 in Rochester, New York. At Dartmouth Dave was a member of Alpha Theta and Phi Beta Kappa, majored in economics, and graduated in three years summa cum laude before attending Dartmouth’s two-year medical school. He completed his M.D. at Harvard Medical School. Following four years of internship and training at Massachusetts General Hospital and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, Bob moved to Rochester for a fellowship in cancer medicine. During a celebrated career he was the author of more than 70 publications and held numerous medical leadership positions in the Rochester area, including clinical professor of oncology at the University of Rochester Cancer Center. Known for his bow ties, Bob enjoyed tennis, golf, and skiing and was a fan of beekeeping, breadmaking, and birdwatching. He is survived by his wife, Jody, daughters Margaret and Eleanor, and five grandchildren.
